Silkies make great pets, but they are not great egg producers as they love to go broody. They will average only a couple of eggs a week or 100 per year. Chicks will vary in color from solid black, solid white, paint, partridge or blues. Be prepared because they take months to determine if they are male or female without DNA testing.
